Prerequisites
No particular prerequisites are required, but being an interdisciplinary topic, knowledge of 20th-century history (especially Italian) and audio-visual language will be useful.
Learning outcomes
The course provides knowledge and tools in order to comprehend in historical prospect the evolution and specificity of Italian radio-television system. The Italian radio television system will then be compared to the main European and international models.
The course aims to allow the student the basic analysis (structure, language) of a television product and its correct contextualization
Course contents
The course will investigate the history of the Italian broadcasting system, the specific language of the different television genres, the palinsestual strategy also in relation to the digital and satellite system . In addition, the national television system will be compared with the main models in Europe and the U.S. market.
A corpus of lectures will be devoted to the spectacle of the body in contemporary television.
Teaching methods
Frontal lessons, there will be visions and analysis of television programs to deepen the theme of genres. There will be a seminar on contemporary television series.
The course may include educational outings on the territory or participation in exhibitions, with the presence of the teacher.

Assessment methods
The exam consists of an oral examination in which will be verified the main notions of the history of the radio-television system and the ability to recognize and describe the genres and types of programs.
For attending students, it is possible, in addition to the oral exam, to arrange the analysis of a television program with the teacher.
