Compositing, intermedia montage, found footage
Considering the recent and renewed debate that concerns the relationship opened between Cinema and History, the course focuses on the different tendencies elaborated by contemporary cinema to employ documental images and to integrate them into a movie. In this perspective, the recurrent patterns studied during the course will be: the coexistence of heterogeneous elements in single configurations (compositing); the combination of images coming from different visual devices (intermedia montage); the reuse of pre-existing material through the exaltation of technical and linguistic factors (found footage).
