Prerequisites
Exam may be standed only after Spanish Language 1 and Spanish Literature 1.
Learning outcomes
The course offfers especially a deep analysis of peninsular Spanish syntax of the verb (use of tenses and moods); elements about American variety will also be offered. The approach is a contrastive and descriptive one, and it's focused on the dialectics between use and rule.
Course contents
A contrastive description of morphological and syntactical structures of Spanish: haber/tener, use of moods (indicative, subjunctive, conditional, infinitive moods), the passive voice, the expressione of order, duty and necessity, por/para, prepositional accusative. The latest ortographioc reform (2010).

Assessment methods
Oral exam in Spanish.
The course is integrated by language practices of Spanish, which are held all the year along by a native speakers staff. For any information about their language learning, contacting prof. Mazzocchi is highly recommended. Practices program includes: revision and improving of first year program, verbs morphology (completion), verbal syntax (introduction). To pass all tests forseen for the practices is propedeutic to the exam. Written test includes: dictation, grammar exercises, translation, essay. Students who attend at least 70% of practices, may stand intermediate tests (before Christmas holidays, end of third term, end of fourth term). Passing the three intermediate tests exempts from the final test, except ion the case students want to improve their mark. The knowledge of spoken Spanish will be verified in a few minutes conversation before the exam; such a conversation will deal with topical subjects,and three novels by Juan Marsé: El amante bilngüe, últimas tardes con Teresa, La oscura historia de la prima Montse,(compulsory reading).
