Prerequisites
Good knowledge of Early Modern History ( XVI-XVIII centuries);
Language skills sufficient for use bibliography in foreign languages
Learning outcomes
Ability to read and to use historical sources,
Ability in selection and critical analisis of specialistic bibliography
Ability to link between different problem areas.
A solid knowledge of the historical method.
Course contents
In a long-term perspective and compared, the course will follow the reflection, the claim and the affirmation of human rights in the light of political and religious conflicts in Europe between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries and of the meeting and the clash between European civilization and cultures outside Europe.
Teaching methods
The course will be held as a seminar, preceded by a few preliminary lectures.

Assessment methods
The students attending the course will write and discuss a paper on a subject which will be decided during the course. As for the oral exam, see the bibliography above.
Non-attending students will plan their exam (oral and written) with the course lecturer, at the beginning of the course.
