Aims and objectives. – The course aims, first of all, at making students familiar with the method of textual criticism in its general features, i.e. as a means of reading a written text and of assessing the textual conditions of written records. More specific aims are: to teach notions concerning the transmission of Greek and Latin texts and the techniques for the establishment of a critical text; to develop students’ command of the language of textual criticism; to help students achieve the ability to use a critical edition and to read a critical apparatus.
Course contents
