Prerequisites
The course prerequisites include a basic knowledge of developmental/cognitive psychology. Prospective students should be familiar with the fundamental concepts in these fields to effectively benefit from the course and learning materials.
Learning outcomes
This course aims at developing knowledge and understanding in several key areas of developmental, cognitive and experimental psychology:
a) Advanced comprehension of theoretical models and the interpretation of experimental data with reference to psychology of learning (dis)abilities;
b) Profound understanding of the methods and experimental techniques employed within the field of psychology of learning (dis)abilities;
c) Ethical and deontological awareness necessary for conducting experimental procedures in the area of psychology of learning (dis)abilities responsibly.
Furthermore, the course aims to cultivate the ability to apply this knowledge and understanding effectively by:
a) enhancing proficiency in executing and assessing applications within experimental contexts in the area of developmental, cognitive and experimental psychology;
b) advancing students’ competences in executing and evaluating applications within clinical environments in the area of developmental and cognitive psychology;
c) promoting of critical thinking, analytical prowess, and the synthesis of ideas in the area of developmental, cognitive and experimental psychology;
d) using ethical principles in practical applications and research endeavors in developmental, cognitive and experimental psychology.
Course contents
- Basic principles of learning psychology and specific learning disorders
- Prevention and rehabilitation of specific learning disorders
- Neurobiological underpinnings of specific learning disorders
Teaching methods
This course will adopt a variety of learning methods, by blending traditional lectures with experiential learning activities and incorporating group discussions, case-based analyses, and practical exercises.

Slides presented during the lessons (slides will be available on Kyro). Scientific articles will be suggested during the lessons
Assessment methods
The exam will be a written examination with 30 multiple-choice questions. Each question is worth 1 point, and the total grade will be between 0-30. The exam duration is 50 minutes. For students who get a score of at least 18 points on the written exam, it will be possible to undergo to an oral exam. After the oral exam, the score of the written exam can be confirmed or increased up to a maximum of 3 points. The exam will cover the material and topics explained and discussed during the lectures. The students' grades will be determined by the accuracy and clarity of their answers, as well as their ability to explain and critically apply the concepts taught throughout the course.
