Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of cognitive neuroscience: principles of neuroanatomy, major cognitive functions (attention, memory, language), tools of neuroscientific investigations.
Learning outcomes
The main objective of the course is to provide an in-depth knowledge of the interactions between Cognitive Neuroscience and other disciplines such as marketing, social media, art and design. In addition, the course will provide notions for writing research projects that will act as a bridge between Neuroscience and the most relevant social and economic fields.
The expected outcomes are as follows:
- Knowledge of the most recent multidisciplinary integration studies where neuroscientific investigation tools (MRI, EEG, neurostimulation) shed light on the neural mechanisms underlying consumer behaviour in different sectors such as fashion, food industry or art.
- Acquiring skills in the drafting of high-impact multidisciplinary research projects
By the end of the course, students will have a comprehensive understanding of the intricate interplay between neuropsychology, cognitive sciences, and their application in the scientifical research of different, non-clinical field of application. They will be able to critically assess the complex interaction between neuroscience and marketing strategies and will be equipped with foundational competencies to critically evaluate suitable neuroscientific investigation methodologies. During the course, the knowledge of the English language in scientific context will also be implemented.

Teaching methods
Teaching is based on lectures and group activities. Power Point presentations and video recordings are used for the lectures, which are made available to students in the teaching section on the KIRO platform.
During the tutorials, students are guided in the drafting of multidisciplinary wide-ranging research projects with impact on society and industry. Attendance at lectures and tutorials is strongly recommended.
Reccomended or required readings
Students will be provided with scientific papers and slides given by the professors.
Assessment methods
The examination consists in the development of 1 research project that can be applied in the areas of intersection between Neuroscience and other disciplines covered in the class. Students can find the project template in the teaching section on KIRO. In addition, students will present the project via Power Point presentation during the oral examination.
Assessment will be based on the following criteria:
1. Creativity 0-10 points
2. Completeness 0-5 points
3. Rationality 0-5 points
4. Methodology 0-5 points
5. Feasibility 0-5 points
