Learning outcomes
1) Knowledge of the characteristics of the main diagnostic categories according to the DSM-5
2) Ability of performing basic differential diagnostic
3) Ability of participating in multidisciplinary teams that deal with mental health topics, including definitions, areas for intervention, possible interactions

1. Introduction: basic concepts of clinical psychology (description, research approaches, symptoms and causal mechanisms)
2. The DSM-5 diagnostic model
3. The diagnostic interview
4. Anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorders
5. Stress disorders and post-traumatic stress disorders
6. Depressive disorders
7. Self-harm and suicide
8. Bipolar disorders
9. Schizophrenia and psychotic disorders
10. Eating disorders
11. Somatic symptom disorders and dissociative disorders
12. Substance use disorders
13. Sexual disorders
14. Personality disorders
15. Psychotherapy interventions in clinical psychology
16. Clinical case studies and scientific articles relevant to the course topics
Teaching methods
Lecture, clinical case analysis, video material, discussion of scientific articles and other materials provided by the lecturer.
In accordance with the University Guidelines on the Mode of Teaching Delivery in A.Y. 2023/2024, the course is conducted through lectures that can be attended in-person at scheduled dates and times and includes the possibility of consulting slides or other teaching materials from the KIRO university platform.

The slides and all the material presented during the lectures will be made available by the lecturer and represent compulsory study material for all students
Assessment methods
Written exam with 26 multiple choice questions and two open questions.
