Learning outcomes
The Work Psychology course aims to provide students with a basic knowledge on work organizations. The course will provide an overview of the historical development of this branch of knowledge: starting from the first studies, the evolution of the main psychological constructs will be analyzed. There will be also a focus on some practical issues typical of the current work context.
Course contents
The course will focus on:
- development of the discipline
- research methods in work psychology
- workplace safety
- individual differences in the workplace
- work motivation
- work satisfaction
- occupational well-being
- counterproductive behaviors in the workplace.
Teaching methods
For the A.A. 2023/2024 the course will be conducted in the presence.
Materials will be available on Kiro website, if this will be suggested as an academic rule.

Examination is based on the following books:
-Argentero P., Cortese C. (a cura di), Manuale di psicologia del lavoro e delle organizzazioni, Volume I: Psicologia del Lavoro, Raffaello Cortina Editore, Milano, 2016. Chapters: 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 10.
-Prati G., Pietrantoni L., Perché accadono gli incidenti?, Carocci Editore, Roma, 2013*.
*It is better to buy the book as soon as possible (in a library or on the editor website) because of possible difficulties.
Assessment methods
The assessment consists in a written examination with open-ended questions.
Students who will attend at least 80% of the lessons can do the final exam as "attending students".
Further information
The guided practical course (CPG) "Psychology of organizational well-being" will deepen some topics treated in this course.
