Prerequisites
Propaedeutic examinations are not required, but is desired a previous knowledge of the basic notions of clinical psychology.
Learning outcomes
Acquire expertise in the field of general psychopathology and of the psychopathological expressions of the various kinds of mental disorder: psychotic, organic, neurotic and personality disorders.
Make use of the anthropological, sociological, phenomenological and psychological concerns to recognize the needs of the subject and their socio-cultural impact, prerequisites for the development of an healthy and integrated personality.
Possess and integrate theoretical knowledges of the concept of health and of the various clarifying models of mental disorder.
Learn knowledges necessary for understand the biological appearances, the main mechanisms of mental functions and systems, the physiologic sublayers of mental and physical activity.
Acquire basic notions of physiological, social and mental dimensions of mental disorders and of their psychosocial and behavioral effects.
Learn and enforce theoretic, cultural and vocational values which guide the diagnostic and assessing process during the clinical interview.
Recognize the elementary manifestations of pathological functioning at the cognitive, emotional and behavioral level.
Formulate diagnostic hypotheses from the report of a clinical case and reason in terms of differential diagnosis.
Integrate detected symptoms into a diagnostic hypothesis.
Collect a complete psychopathological history.,

Teaching methods
The lessons will consist of frontal teaching according to the model of master's degrees. In the case of specific psychopathological pictures, they will be accompanied by clinical vignettes, example cases and audiovisual supports; documentaries, films, etc. The lessons will be published in PDF format on the website of the Department of Psychology before the lesson. Students are advised to download the PDF file and consult it before the lesson, so that they can ask for any clarifications or explanations.

The exam will be a written test, consisting of 30 questions:
10 multiple choice closed questions, with four choice options, aimed at verifying the specific knowledge of the theoretical aspects covered in the course; each question has only one correct answer, evaluated with a score of 1.
10 multiple open questions with short answers, aimed at verifying the ability to assimilate the main psychopathological issues. Each answer is evaluated with 3 distinct scores: 0, 0.5 and 1.
10 single open questions, which require synthetic definitions of the main psychopathological concepts illustrated in the lessons. Each answer is evaluated with 3 distinct scores: 0, 0.5 and 1 The final grade consists of the sum of the scores of each question; comprehensive answers to open questions allow you to award praise.
