Prerequisites
Basic knowledge in using the PC. Basic knowledge in statistics.
Learning outcomes
The CPG aims to provide practical guidance to the student who has to carry out an experimental degree thesis or intends to increase his/her skills in the statistical analysis of data in relation to specific research questions.
Course contents
The following topics will be covered during the course,
- preparation of data sets
- descriptive analysis and graphic visualization of data (example: Histograms, scatterplot)
- analysis of differences between groups (t-test, ANOVA)
- analysis of relationships between variables (correlation and regression)
The lessons will be carried out with the aid of statistical software (eg Jamovi, Excel)
Teaching methods
Theoretical lessons to introduce the main topics and guided practical exercises in classroom (or online)

Assessment methods
Short powerpoint presentation regarding the results of an analysis conducted to address a specific research question.
The research question is chosen by the student. The data for carrying out this analysis can be collected by the student or downloaded from public platforms (e.g. ISTAT website)
