Prerequisites
The CPG TECHNIQUES AND APPLICATION METHODS OF MENTAL TRAINING: FOR SPORTS PERFORMANCE AND PERSONAL WELLBEING presupposes the general notions of psychology with particular reference to the theories concerning the constructs of cognitive evaluation, self efficacy, psychological empowerment and the neurophysiological aspects that underlie the emotional experience.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course, the student must have learned and understood the principles of Sport Psychology and Mental Training, and must also have acquired the basic knowledge of the specific techniques and application methods illustrated during the course.
Course contents
The course will be structured roughly in nine interactive lessons in which some key concepts of Sport Psychology and the practice of Mental Training will be illustrated and in-depth specific methods and techniques of this practice to allow students to understand its specific role in relation to sports performance and to personal well-being. Neuroscientific concepts will be exposed regarding the balance of the central nervous system and the neurophysiology of emotions and psychology topics regarding psychological empowerment, perceptions of the self, self efficacy and cognitive evaluation. The theoretical aspects will be interspersed with guided practical experiences to allow students to directly experience certain Mental Training techniques such as Progressive Relaxation Relaxation, Visualization and Meditation, in order to fully understand their application possibilities. The entire course will be carried out with particular emphasis on dialogue and interaction between teacher and students.
Teaching methods
The teaching uses lectures and guided practical exercises. Power Point presentations are used to carry out the lectures, made available to students in the section dedicated to teaching on the KIRO moodle platform. For practical exercises, evaluation grids and audio files will be made available to students, also included in the KIRO moodle platform dedicated to teaching.

The theoretical reference material for learning the course contents can be found in the lecture notes, made available to students in the section dedicated to teaching on the KIRO moodle platform. For theoretical insights any reference texts will be recommended based on the specific interests of the students.
Assessment methods
Learning will be verified through a short written test consisting of multiple choice questions. The test result will be evaluated as an additional criterion, in addition to the percentage of lessons attended, to achieve eligibility.
