Learning outcomes
STATISTICS MODULE
Learning the basic scientific approach to Sport Sciences. At the end of the course the students should had learned how to summarize and interpret experimental data, how to read and evaluate tables and graphs and also how to describe results from statistical analyses.

HYGIENE MODULE
The course aims at deepening some specific hygiene issues, with particular reference to issues of interest to the Graduate in Sport Sciences. Some examples of project work are also illustrated

STATISTICS MODULE
- Introduction to biostatistics
- Descriptive and inferential statistics
- Population and sample
- Statistical units, variables and observations
- Qualitative e quantitative variables
- Frequency distributions
- Graphical representations according to different kind of variables
- Measures of position and variability
- Regression and correlation coefficient
- Probability: the main rules.
- The Gaussian probability distribution
- The normal standardized probability distribution: table reading
- z-scores
- Hypothesis testing
- Test for independence: χ2 test
- example of χ2 applications and use of χ2 tables

HYGIENE MODULE
Health, health promotion and health education - Epidemiological methodology
Experimental epidemiological - Sport and health: physical activity as a healthy lifestyle and prevention strategy for the main chronic diseases.
Hygiene and safety in sport: definitions of danger, risk and damage applied to the motor / sports field.
Regulations relating to health and safety at work: duties, obligations and responsibilities of the employer and the worker; health surveillance.
Quality and safety of the facilities intended for the practice of motor / sports activities
- structural, plant, organizational and hygienic-sanitary requirements of sports fields, gyms, swimming pools, subsidiary rooms and support services, spaces for physical activity in school buildings. Guidelines containing indications on legionellosis for managers of tourist-accommodation and spa facilities

Assessment methods
STATISTICS MODULE
Written test consisting in the resolution of exercises concerning the subjects of the course: students must not only apply the correct statistical techniques, but must be able to interpret the results.
