Prerequisites
Students of the History of Architecture 1 Laboratory are required to possess or acquire adequate initial preparation in the following knowledge of: History, Drawing, History of Art and Literature learned during studies conducted in lower secondary schools and above.
Learning outcomes
The goal of the Laboratory, complementary to the lessons of the History of Architecture 1 course, is to provide practical tools for learning about the history of architecture from antiquity to the eighteenth century. Through three activities (1. Seeing, 2. Reading, 3. Writing) linked to the learning of knowledge and the "construction" of the History of Architecture, the Laboratory aims to develop the student's ability to know how to observe architecture through drawing, to be able to understand and interpret texts and essays on historical topics, to be able to write a short essay based on the correct use of printed sources and digital sources. The Laboratory differs from the monographic course of History of Architecture present in the first year for the use of forms of teaching based on the development of direct experiences of knowledge through drawing and historical research by the students. The learning results will be verified with the evaluation: of the booklet made both in the classroom and during the educational visits; periodic presentations in the form of comments by students; of the historical paper drawn up on the basis of a standard form.
Course contents
During the Workshop, three activities will be developed (1. Seeing, 2. Reading, 3. Writing) linked to the learning of knowledge and the "construction" of the History of Architecture from Antiquity to the Eighteenth Century (see program of the History of architecture 1). The activities that the students will carry out: creation of a booklet through life drawing, presentations after reading historical essays, compilation of a historical essay drawn up on the basis of the correct use of printed sources and digital sources.
