Prerequisites
To better follow the course the student must have basic information on:
eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms, autotrophic and heterotrophic, mitosis and meiosis
Learning outcomes
The course aims to create a general knowledge on biology of eucariotic authotrophs (algae protist, non vascular and vascular plants) with emphasis on interreletionships of growth and development, structure and function and evolution and ecology. The expected learning results are the capacity of understanding the plant structures and functions, and their ecology and evolution.
Course contents
The Plant Cell and the Cell Cycle, notes on Photosynthesis, The Process of Evolution, reproduction cycels, taxonomy and phylogeny of photosynthetic organisms. Photosynthetic protists (algae); bryophytes, seedless vascular plants; gymnosperms; angiosperms; evolution of angiosperms; cells and tissues of the plant body; the root: structure and development primario e secondario; the shoot: primary structure and development; secondary growth in stems. The course includes theoretical lessons and practical activities.
Teaching methods
lectures and practical activities in equipped classroom.
There are written preparation monitoring tests with open questions and questions with multiple answers.
