Learning outcomes
The goal of the laboratory is to gain hand-on experience in simulating statistical physics models of complex systems.
Course contents
The laboratory will be based on exploratory activities that will be devoted to the simulation of complex phenomena, focusing on emergent phenomena. Topics to be studied incude:
- Random walks and diffusion
- Equilibrium phase transitions -Percolation
-Non-equilibrium dynamics in disordered systems.
- Avalanche phenomena and self-organized criticality
-Neural networks
Teaching methods
ach of the research topics will be briefly introduced from a theoretical point of view. This will then be followed by a computational introduction part carried out through an example python notebook. Students will then be asked to choose a theme for further developments on the topic.
