Prerequisites
The student should know basic Pathology and Histology.
Learning outcomes
The goal of the Course is to teach in training Biotechnologists the biotechnological implications of current plastic surgery, with particular regard to regenerative surgery.
Course contents
Wound healing biology and clinics. Advanced dressings. Technologies to stimulate the granulatin tissue growth. Stem cells, Growth factors and substrates. Cells grafting. Skin bank. Bioengineered skin and skin substitutes. Implants and fillers: classification, biological reactions, clinical use, regulation, manufacturing process.
Introduction of related industry companies.
Teaching methods
traditional classes with projection of clinical, histologic and technical images.
Theoretical parts pf the lessons are uploaded on KIRO web portal a few days before each class, to let the students understand throughly the traditional classes.

A. Faga “Chirurgia Plastica, ricostruttiva ed estetica” 3rd ed. Masson Elsevier LSWR publ.

Assessment methods
The exam is oral and is based upon the whole program. When preparing the exam, the student should refer to both the lessons and the textbook. The oral dissertation should be organized with logical order moving from the general to the particular and it should be supported by solid arguments, in a correct Italian language with the appropriate use of medical terminology.
