Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the etiological and pathological basis of diseases.
Course contents
Definition of Pathology. Methods of study. Alterations as a result of the interaction between genetic and ecosystem.

Etiology
Pathogens:
a) intrinsic body: genetic disorder with nods to the causes of birth defects;
b) extrinsic to the (environmental pathology):
1) physical agents (radiation, high and low temperatures);
2) chemicals (mechanism of injury, routes of absorption and elimination, defense mechanisms, exogenous toxins, poisons endogenous);
3) nutritional abnormalities
4) biological interactions.

Regressive processes (Cellular Pathology)
• hypoplasia, ipotrofie;
• cellular accumulation;
• pathological calcifications;
• pathological pigmentation;
• necrosis and apoptosis.

Reactive processes
The regeneration.

Inflammation: causes, moments, aspects, evolution; chronic inflammation.

Pathological growth
Hypertrophy and hyperplasia.

Tumor biology: definition, benign and malignant tumor, invasion, metastasis, cachexia, etiology, principles of classification, epidemiology, influence of diet.

Complex lesions
Thrombus
Atherosclerotic lesion
