Learning outcomes
The aim of this course is to learn:
• the structure of the cell
• the differences between prokaryotes and eukaryotes
• the role of the chromatin/nucleus and the importance of genetic information; how
cells use the genetic information
• the structure and the role of intracellular organelles
• cell division: the cell cycle and the mitosis
• meiosis
Course contents
Organization and diversity of cells. Prokaryotes and eukaryotes
Chromatin, chromosomes, mitosis and cell cycle
Meiosis and recombination.
Molecular genetics techniques and identification of disease genes
Intracellular Compartments: Mitochondria, RER, REL, Golgi apparatus, lysosomes
and cytoskeleton
Intracellular membrane traffic
