Learning outcomes
To learn the methods of analysis and construction of the news, through collective work of discussion and finally of writing. Learn the methods and practices for the construction of an editorial-journalistic output.
Course contents
Relationships among individuals, among states, companies, groups, networks, movements, and communities at the national and international levels are constituted, in the first instance, on the basis of words. The text is the first foundation of the relationship.
We will investigate the most relevant words and concepts in order to understand if there can be a new model of community, as a possible answer to the crisis of the so-called "world order" that has been going on for some years.
The course will be organized around this topic - also seen from an international point of view - through theoretical lessons on journalistic techniques of data collection, fact checking, investigation, interview, reportage, etc.
Experts will also be hosted, in order to interact with them and build a direct dialogue in the lessons.
Finally, a collective editorial project will be dedicated to this topic (the focus will be defined during the course).
Teaching methods
Lectures, classroom exercises, meetings and discussions with experts
Reccomended or required readings
To prepare for the exam:
Guido Bosticco e Marco Dotti, Costellazioni. Sette lezioni sulla comunità. Milano, Guerini, 2021.

Those who will not participate in the writing for the exam, will have to integrate the previous text with:
Guido Bosticco e Giovanni B. Magnoli Bocchi, Come i social hanno ucciso la comunicazione. Milano, Guerini, 2020.
Assessment methods
The final exam consists in the discussion of a group work around the concept of community, used as a category of analysis and in-depth analysis of current events, with an international perspective.
The final lessons of the course are dedicated to the collective processing (like an editorial meeting) about the different topics and to the assignment of the papers. In any case, each group will agree with the teachers the topic of the final work.
