Prerequisites
A basic knowledge of ancient history.
Learning outcomes
Reconstructive and interpretative skills on the basis of an ancient text or a fragmentary text. Historical analysis of sources of various nature (historiography, documents, inscriptions, papyri, archaeological evidence).
Course contents
Roman Egypt. Sources and problems.

Week 1. Conquest before the conquest. Cleopatra's Egypt.
Week 2. The Augustan revolution.
Week 3. From Germanicus to Nero.
Week 4. From the Flavians to Hadrian.
Week 5. From Avidius Cassius to the Severans.
Week 6. Roman Alexandria: Student presentations.
Teaching methods
Frontal lectures, student presentation in the form of a brief seminar (15 minutes).
