Prerequisites
The course is for second year students. As a prerequisite, the acquisition of the 9 ECTS OF VERBAL COMMUNICATION AND LANGUAGE OF THE MEDIA is required in the first year.
Learning outcomes
The course goals are:

- know and distinguish the different varieties of contemporary Italian;
- to be able to analyze texts of different types and destinations.

At the end of the course, students must be able to
- assess the level of effectiveness of a text;
- produce texts adapted to different communicative situations.
Course contents
The course is divided into two parts:

1. Sociolinguistics of contemporary Italian (18 hours)
The focus will be on variation and variety, so as to provide an overview of the linguistic repertoire of today's Italian.

2. Read, write, type (12 hours)
We will focus on some specific aspects related to digital writing, orality simulation, the relationship between norm and use, the effective use of punctuation, the correct lexical selection.
Teaching methods
Lectures (with the help of Power Point, and media) supplemented by seminars.

1. Giuseppe Antonelli, L'italiano nella società della comunicazione 2.0 (Bologna, Il Mulino, 2016).
2. Luca Serianni, Leggere, scrivere, argomentare (Rona-Bari, Laterza, 2015).
3. All the materials presented and analyzed during the lessons.

For non-attending students, point 3 is replaced by Luca Serianni, L'italiano. parlare, scrivere, digitare (Roma, Treccani, 2019).
Assessment methods
Learning is verified by written examination
aimed at ascertaining the achievement of the training objectives.
The subject of the test is the contents of the reference texts and, for attending students, the contents of the lectures and the didactic seminars.
