Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of architectural and technical design of the building organization, in particular of traditional construction details.
Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide the students with the conceptual and practical bases for building technology, seen as a fundamental component of the building process, from design, production and construction to work management. The student will then learn to read and think of a construction organization in terms of constructive feasibility both through study cases and through the lab project.
Specifically, the design project, different from year to year, consists of the complete design of small building constructions, existing or new buildings. The project will therefore start from the urban scale and then focus on its architectural and technological aspect. In particular, the descent on the constructive details will allow the student to understand the real feasibility and constructibility of the building, also with the attention to the realization phase.
Course contents
The theoretical contents seen in class will be put into practice in the Design Laboratory.
In particular, students will be asked to design a small-scale building module with the aim of checking its constructability and feasibility. Therefore, constructive details will be requested for a scale of detail and innovative design solutions
Teaching methods
Practicals / Workshops (hours/year in lecture theatre): 60
Reccomended or required readings
At the end of each lessons will be given an in depth bibliography of all topics covered in the course
Assessment methods
The admission to the examination is subjected to a positive evaluation both of the project design developed during the laboratory and of the
exercises on security that will be prepared in the classroom during the course. The examination consists also in an oral exam based on the
project and on the lessons' and seminars' topics.
