Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will have acquired the basic knowledge of:
(i) the physical principles behind the functioning of the main diagnostic techniques (US, RX, CT, MR) and behind the formation of images;
(ii) the main technical aspects related to medical imaging instrumentation.
Course contents
Imaging with ultrasounds (US, Doppler); imaging with X-rays (conventional and digital radiography, mammography, CT), MRI.
Teaching methods
Frontal Lectures. Together with theoretical contents, diagnostic images will also be presented and discussed, with particular attention to the presence of artefacts carrying information on the functioning of the imaging technique and process of image formation.
