Prerequisites
Waste and wastewater treatment plant design.
Learning outcomes
The course deals with the principles and application of various wastewater treatment technologies. Both high-tech and low-tech systems are discussed, applicable in industrialized and developing countries. Anaerobic treatment systems, focused on resource recovery, are widely discussed. Modern technologies for the removal / recovery of nutrients (extended) and membrane techniques for wastewater treatment are illustrated.
Course contents
The following topics will be covered in the lessons:
(1) Aerobic granular sludge processes
(2) Sludge thickening and stabilization
(3) anaerobic treatments
(4) Natural treatment systems
(5) MBR systems for wastewater treatment
(6) Removal N using anammox
(8) Polishing effluent
(9) Physical chemical treatment
