Prerequisites
1) A basic knowledge of the foundations of Biology, which, however, will be recalled during the lectures.
2) A knowledge of english language is required, in order to understand the main concepts expressed in scientific papers.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student:
1) Will manage independently scientific literature to study in deep the relationship between biological evolution and behavior.
2) Will be able to examine animal behavior processes, learning, and cognition in a comparative perspective.
3) Will know how to evaluate modern human behavior being aware of the long evolutionary history behind it.

1) Evolutionary Biology and Behavior
2) Comparative Psychology and Ethology
3) Animal Social Learning Processes
4) Evolution of Symbolic Thought
5) Relationship between Humans and Other Animals
Teaching methods
Lectures and exercises.
Reccomended or required readings
Students will study notes taken during the lectures, supplemented by the materials provided by the teacher during the course.
Assessment methods
- At the end of the course students must pass a suitability test in which they demonstrate that they have achieved the course learning outcome.-
- In order to be eligible a student must attend at least 80% of the lessons.
- Based on the evolution of the Covid-19 emergency, the teacher will communicate whether the test will be written or oral.
