Prerequisites for this course are Anatomy, Physiology, Biology and Biochemistry.
Learning outcomes
After the course, the student should have general knowledge of what a drug is, how drugs can be administered, what drugs do to the body, what the body does to drugs, and how drugs are metabolised and eliminated.
Pharmacodynamics
Course contents
How drugs act: general aspect (the binding of drugs to the cells), molecular aspects (Targets for drug actions, Receptors proteins, Receptors and diseases). The effects of agonists, inverse agonists, partial agonists and antagonists.
