Learning outcomes
The main educational objectives of the course include the following.1. Understand the principles and foundations of Business Economics with in-depth analysis of the concept and conceptualisation of the organisation, with particular reference to the firms, and their logic (Module I). 2. Apply the acquired knowledge for the analysis of production volumes given the cost and revenue functions.3. Be able to act in a dynamic economic context in order to pursue satisfactory company performance for the stakeholders.At the end of the course the student is expected to be able to use financial and economic drivers to maximise the organisational performance.
Course contents
In the first part of the course the strategies for the fulfilment of objectives in relation to scarce resources, the concepts of company and entrepreneur are discussed. The economic subject and the legal entity. Therefore, the principles of effectiveness, efficiency and economy are discussed as essential objectives of business management. Overview of company organization for the enhancement of human resources. The costs and their possible classifications, the BEP Model to support strategic choices and the impact of fixed costs and variable costs.

Assessment methods
Written and oral exam. The written test includes the evaluation of the theoretical and applied knowledge of the course content through open-ended questions and the resolution of Break-Even Analysis exercises. The written test includes 10 open-ended questions and an exercise The oral exam deepens the evaluation of the knowledge demonstrated in the written test.
