Prerequisites
The student must have acquired skills on human anatomy of the female pelvis, embryology and medical genetics. We consider having acquired a positive score on these topics preliminary for ob-gyn course and exam.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student must know: Basis of physiopathology and clinical (from a preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic), concerning:
Anatomy and physiology of the female genital system.
• Contraception
• Menopause
• Pathophysiology of reproduction
• Pregnancy, childbirth and Physiological and pathological puerperium
• Prenatal diagnosis
• The main benign functional and organic alterations of the female genital system and breast.
• Gynecologic Oncology.
Course contents
The course is divided into 2 integrated modules: Medical Genetics and Gynecology and Obstetrics.
• Anatomy of the Female genital system
• The menstrual cycle
• Amenorrhea and other abnormalities of the menstrual cycle
• Chronic Anovulation and female hyperandrogenisms
• Fertilisation and implantation
• Couple's infertility
• Endometriosis
• Family planning and • Voluntary and Therapeutic termination of pregnancy
• Physiological pregnancy: Changes in the maternal body • Normal development of the fetus and the placenta
• Assistance to physiological pregnancy
• Pathologies of pregnancy: preeclampsia-eclampsia, gestational diabetes, Preterm delivery, premature rupture of amniocorial membranes, infections, abruptio placentae, protracted pregnancy
• Multiple pregnancy
• Implantation site anomalies: ectopic pregnancy, placenta previa
• Miscarriage and abortion Repeated abortion
• Acute and chronic maternal diseases during pregnancy
Use of medications during pregnancy
• Fetal growth disorder. Malformations. • Screening and diagnosis of fetal disease: prenatal diagnosis, fetal monitoring

Teaching methods
Most of the lectures will be frontal, with interactive discussion of clinical cases, watching videos of surgical interventions.

Assessment methods
The exam is written for the module of Medical Genetics and oral for the module of Gynecology and Obstetrics and will focus on topics covered in the class. The student must demonstrate that he has achieved the training objectives of the course. The final grade of the Inegrated Course will be assessed by taking the weighted average between the two Modules (Medical Genetics 1 ECTS and Gynecology and Obstetrics 5 ECTS). The honors obtained in the modules are worth 31. Any decimals in the final grade are rounded according to the mathematical rule. The two modules are carried out on the same day at different times. To take the Gynecology and Obstetrics exam you must have passed the Medical Genetics exam. The grade for individual modules do not expire.
