A good knowledge of human anatomy and physiology is necessary
Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide students with the knowledge of the main changes in hemostasis (congenital and acquired) and medical treatment
Course contents
Primary hemostasis: • Role of blood flow, vascular wall and platelet • Coagulation and fibrinolysis: • Coagulation cascade, • Fibrin-formation, • Fibrinolytic system. • Hemostasis screening tests, • Clotting factors, • Hemorrhagic diathesis: • Thrombophilic diathesis: • Laboratory evaluation of hemorrhagic and thrombophilic diathesis. Coagulopaty in Covid-19 infection.

Harrison's Internal Medicine. ACCP guidelines. AICE guidelines. Recent articles in the literature relating to the topics covered
Assessment methods
Written or oral test related to the discussion of a clinical case (anamnesis , objective examination, laboratory and instrumental examinations, differential diagnosis and prognosis).
Further information
The marks of Medical Clinic 1 (1 CFU), Territory Medicine (2 CFU), Geriatrics (2 CFU) will contribute to the formulation of the final mark of Medical Clinic 2 deriving from the weighted average of the marks obtained in the aforementioned modules plus those obtained in Internal Medicine B (6 credits) and Emergency Medicine (2 credits) of the sixth year of the course
