Learning outcomes
Knowledge of the main mathematical instruments applied in chemistry.
Course contents
Calculus for functions of more than one real variable: limits, continuity, partial derivatives and tangent plane. Laplace's equation, the Laplace operator in polar and spherical coordinates. Exact and non-exact differentials. Integration of functions of two and three variables. Descriptive statistics. Combinatorics. Discrete and continuous random variables. Probability distributions. Confidence intervals and hypothesis testing.
