Course contents
The course deals with the study of various types of specialized texts, also in a contrastive and translative context, belonging to a wide range of academic and professional contexts through the use of corpora and electronic resources. In parallel, the course places particular emphasis on the study of the phonetic and phonological system of the English language.
The students will also attend an “integrative didactics” course held by a CEL (Collaborator and Linguistic Expert). Supplementary teaching is carried out during the second semester. Starting from May, students can take the related test, which is a prerequisite for the teacher's final written exam
Teaching methods
Lectures and active participation of students in the analysis and translation of texts.
The lessons of the teacher will be complemented by the supplementary didactics of the CEL
Reccomended or required readings
Assessment methods
The exam is written and verifies the ability to understand academic texts on humanistic subjects. The written examination of the teacher is preceded by a written test administered by the CEL aimed at ascertaining the level of language competence established during the course programme. Use of a dictionary is not allowed for any test. The preliminary test, if passed, is valid for 13 months.
