The purpose of the course is to learn the basic concepts of Forensic Pathology and how to apply them in the daily practice of a general physician.

Forensic toxicology lessons focus on: a)drugs of abuse in Italy, their pharmacokinetics and pharmacodinamics, all the aspects related to dependence and tolerance, the differences between synthetic and natural compounds and the legislation on drugs and driving (DUID); b) absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion and pharmacokinetics of ethyl alcohol, together with Italian legislation on driving under the influence of ethanol; c)postmortem toxicology mainly focused on death by poisoning with carbon monoxide and cyanide; d) monitoring of drugs of abuse in workplace drug testing; e)general aspects of anti-doping controls and international legislation (WADA rules).
