By the end of the course students will be expected to:
a) describe and interpret drug-induced therapeutic and adverse effects on the various organs and systems;
b) assess the risk/benefit ratio of drugs under different conditions of therapeutic usage;
c) correctly select and use drugs for the treatment of major diseases.
This module is a part of the integrated course named “PHARMACOLOGY 2”.
Contents of the module: Respiratory pharmacology: antiasthmatics. Cardiovascular pharmacology: antianginals; antihypertensives; cardioactive glycosides and other positive inotropic drugs; antiarrhythmics; diuretics. Gastro-intestinal pharmacology: antiulcer drugs, prokinetics, laxatives, antidiarrhoeics, antiemetics.
The course includes formal and interactive lectures.
