An adequate knowledge of human physiology and pathology is needed.
The course is designed to give the medical students a firm grounding in all aspects of internal medicine, i. e. a comprehensive understanding of the pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, investigation procedures and treatment options for common diseases in this area. Emphasis will be placed on evidence-based medicine and its application to clinical practice.
Main goals:
- To highlight the natural history of common disease states, their prognosis, treatment and prevention
-To develop the clinical competence necessary to formulate meaningful differential diagnosis
- To develop a logical approach to the treatment of patients complaints
Teaching will be primarily through lectures and special workshops. Problem-based learning through clinical case discussion will be used to enhance knowledge and clinical decision-making.
